Wish I’d seen these on my last trip there! inothernews: SPANDIFEROUS   500 years ago in the rainforests of the Indian state of Meghalaya, locals began to guide roots and vines from the native Ficus Elastica rubber tree across rivers using hollow bamboo until they became rooted on the opposite side, creating footbridges unlike any seen elsewhere.  The region receives about 15 meters worth of rain per year.  (Photo: Rex Features via the Telegraph)
